OpenMaps for iOS

We should be able to track a route, and add waypoints along the way.

The app should then be able to upload the gpx file automatically to osm, or to email it.

I have added a related request:

up/download to/from Bikemap so I can share tours or follow other's tours

(and save/load/email for personal use).

This would be awesome - and should in theory be possible to do properly with iOS4, wouldn't it?

This might be a duplicate of the second feature request on the list. The title of that is GPS tracking.

Let me just add that GPX files should be able to be both imported AND exported. The OpenCycle maps have topo and quite a few routable trails, but where the trails are missing, it would be nice to import them. Websites such as www.everytrail.com and www.trimbleoutdoors.com have user-created tracks that can be downloaded as GPX files.

This would also increase the number of gps tracks that could be uploaded to OSM. Currently there are a lot of sparsely mapped areas. Gps tracks are a good place to start filling those in.

Would love even to be able to manually enter routes and have the app measure the distance

How about just fixing Openmaps so that it actually works?
