Offline routing
Is it possible to use offline routing?
I mean, to be able to calculate routes while being out of Internet zone.

Let's search offline! This is very important for iPod touch users and a great feature that makes OpenMaps much better than the default Maps app.
I find I am missing a simple horizontal scale bar on the map, a bit like on Garmin's GPS maps.
How about a record tool to record a track? Something similar to Trailguru would be great. Trailguru unfortunately uses Google maps and they do not display local cycleways nicely.
Can you give some indication as to the minimum number of tiles required to download to obtain all street labels for an area without having to do the max size download. Also, when offline, limit the zoom to not exceed the limit of the tiles loaded. Keeps from getting a blank screen.
I want to be able to download the map along an entire cycling route. Maybe 200meters either side of the trail. Could this be done automatically maybe by clicking on the route? 'do you want to download maps along route 4' 'yes!!'
When out of phone coverage you can still see where you are. Would also save lots of money when using overseas.
After downloading a general city map at a fairly close zoom level, there have been several major changes to the map. I'd rather not bog down the servers downloading the whole thing again. It would be awesome if there was a manual update button that would only update the current section of map in whatever downloads I have saved.
When pressing the download button, it would be great to see if the currently shown map is already downloaded and if there are more tiles to download, how many there are.
This app would really be awesome if it could show the map on top of the yahoo images, like potlatch on the web does.
This would be similar to the hybrid view in google maps.
Email a GPX file of a route to someone, namely myself.
Please support the development of OpenMaps and write a short review in the App Store.
Thank you.
I just realized that you can't add POI in offline mode. The app should store the POI info for later when you do have wifi, then allow you to upload
It will be great to tag building, not poi.
I add many building in my town (draw it from satelite's images), and when i pass near it, i want to tag house number and street. Can you add this feature?
For those whi use this app to plan the best route to bike commute to work, or for around town errands, it would be very useful to have an easy way to check the altitude/inclination profile of a route. It could be displayed in several ways. The best one is probably a graphic showing altitude or inclination along the route. It also could have an option to make the route line a different color - for instance, red when going upwards, blue when going straight with little or no inclination, and green when going downwards.

If I locate my current position the map scrolls to the correct position but my location is not displayed as a blue dot as usual.
This App. does not find a simple address in Switzland which is found by Google Maps in less than a second. Please improve.
I have put a cycling route in but I can't adjust it to avoid main roads. Maybe I'm missing something?
I love the download feature for use without a network connection. Three further ideas for it: 1. Let me specify the shape of the download area. That would seem useful for 'long' cities along a river or at a coast. Particularly when their direction is along the short edge of the screen and a high detail level is required this could decrease the download size and the amount of storage space required. 2. 2. I find it hard to get a feeling for the parts of the map I have already downloaded. Perhaps some overlays over the map indicating the border and detail of the downloaded tiles would be helpful.
3. I find the slider for selecting the Download detail level a bit hard to use because my finger tends to obscure the numbers displayed above the slider which makes it hard to read them while changing them. Perhaps a alight rearrangement could improve that?

We should be downloading and caching vector data, not pre-rendered bitmap tiles. Vector data would consume far less local storage, and would make local route calculations possible. There is a precedent for this on the Android platform with OneStepAhead's MapDroyd & NavDroyd applications. This app is the closest I've seen to that class of proper/robust offline mapping program. Deleting a downloaded Map for offline usage takes about 1 Minute per second. For a 80 MB Barcelona Map i had to wait and leave the App open for almost 8 minutes.
I have being trying YOURS server for routing, but most of the time i get a server error. Am i the only one having this problem?
It would be great with an option to automatically store all viewed tiles.
There is no way to delete the temporary cache (the one which is deleted after 7 days) without losing the permanent one (the one obtained from the download feature) right now.
Wouldn't it be useful to be able to clear the temporary cache separately from the permanent cache?
